Steve Schroeder, a native of Texas, graduated from Sam Houston State University with his Bachelor's degree in industrial photography in 1980. Immediately following graduation, Steve joined the noted Gittings Studio in Houston where he fine tuned his talents. Steve left Gittings in 1987 and opened his own studio there in Texas. His work over the next several years earned him a Master's
Degree from the Professional Photographers' Association of America and a Fellowship Degree from the Professional Photographers' Guild of Houston. In 1995, Steve and his family made Macon their home. Shortly after setting up shop, the studio moved to the Hardeman-Hatcher house.
The studio, located in Victorian Village, is positioned close to downtown Macon on Hardeman Avenue. The home was originally built in the 1880s and was used as a bed and breakfast during the 1980s. Taking full advantage of its beautiful and ornate architecture, Steve uses the house as
a unique background for his portraits.
